Joint Hamburg stand presents "Future Hamburg" at Hanover Fair

Deputy Mayor, Senator for Economics promoting Hanseatic innovations

Hamburg is pitching itself under the motto FUTURE HAMBURG at the Hanover Fair underway from April 1-5, 2019 under the theme of “Industrial Intelligence”. The Hanse city is hosting a joint stand with several partners. Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning top the agenda of this year’s trade fair as it reflects on swift, radical change across industries. Emphasis is on the role of people who will continue to provide impetus for the factory of the future. Sweden is this year’s partner country.

World’s leading industrial trade fair – metropolitan region returning

The Hannover Messe is the world’s leading trade fair for industry. This year’s theme highlights the digitalisation of production and energy systems. Scientific institutes, universities, technology transfer institutions and a record number of start-ups will be presented under “FUTURE HAMBURG” in Hall 2 “Research & Technology” at Stand B 08.

Hamburg’s beacons of innovation

Katharina Fegebank, Deputy Mayor of Hamburg, and Michael Westhagemann, Senator for Economics, will open Hamburg’s stand on Monday (April 1, 2019) and present Hanseatic beacons of innovation. An international panel will talk about the importance of innovation parks as an interface between science and industry on April 2, 2019. Exhibitors from the Hamburg Metropolitan Region include Bieglo, Data Lighthouse, Dermalog, Net AG System, Panasonic Germany, Smart Light Solutions GmbH and TÜV Nord among others.

Global corporations and start-ups

Around 6,500 companies from 75 countries are expected at this year’s Hanover Fair. Global corporations, mid-sized companies and start-ups will present components, process and system solutions for industrial production and the energy supply of the future. All the leading companies in automation, robotics, industrial software, drive and fluid technology, energy technologies, supply as well as research and development will be attending the fair.

Dr. Jochen Köckler, Chairman of the Board of Management of Deutsche Messe AG, noted: “The 'Hannover Messe’ is the world’s only platform where the components and systems of mechanical and plant engineering and electrical engineering merge with the digital technologies of software and IT companies. This year’s agenda has many exciting topics such as 5G, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, security and many more on the digitalisation of industry. We are delighted by the strong presence of exhibitors from the Hanse city.”

Focus on science and technology transfer in Hamburg

The future of a location lies in research and innovation. Hamburg has excellent infrastructure with international key players in industry and science. This offers scientists, founders, fledgling and established companies ideal opportunities for making contacts, networking and transfer. This year, Science City in Hamburg-Bahrenfeld in Hanover will pitch to an expert audience for the first time. Dr. Rolf Strittmatter, Managing Director of Hamburg Invest, commented: “The 'Hannover Messe’ is the most important marketplace for industry worldwide. It is not only about selling products, but about international co-operation in the development of future technologies. That’s why it’s important to be present in Hanover again this year.”
