Hamburg's gaming scene gets new festival


All about games, esport and cosplay at Gamesevention- separate day for trade visitors

The Hamburg-based WELOVEESPORTS GmbH is gearing up to host gamevention in Hamburg’s convention centre from November 23-24, 2019 only four weeks after one of Germany’s biggest e-sport events, the ESL One, ended in Hamburg. E-sport will take centre stage during the latest festival. The plans foresee matches on the HyperX Esports Truck stage, show games, talks between professionals and amateurs and “Beat the Pro” matches with experienced players in the “Unicorns of Love” lounge.

Testing blockbusters and indie games

More than 10,000 expected computer games’ fans can try out well-known blockbusters and the latest indie games in the gaming area. Visitors can watch a lively stage programme with show acts and talks and avail of a streaming corner. Potential employers will also be on hand to outline job opportunities in the sector. The gameevention opens its doors to trade visitors for the Business Day on November 22, 2019 prior to the actual event.

EUR 5,000 for winner of Cosplay Contest

The spotlight will be on cosplayers when Germany’s most famous cosplayers parade from 10 a.m. before gamevention’s opens on November 23, 2019. The cosplay fantasy fans dress up as characters from movies, books or video games especially those from the Japanese genres of manga and anime. The winner receives EUR 5,000 in prize money. Visitors can also look forward to many live acts and workshops.


Hamburg is one of Germany’s key gaming scenes. Around 200 companies and 4,000 employees make Hamburg a European hotspot of the industry. Five of the ten largest German game companies, Big Point, Daedalic, Gamigo, InnoGames and Goodgame Studios, were founded in Gamecity:Hamburg.
