The state-of the-art Olympus Campus in the south of Hamburg celebrated its topping-out ceremony on Friday (November 15, 2019) in the presence of Dr. Peter Tschentscher, Mayor of Hamburg. The campus in Hammerbrook is due for completion in late 2020 and is set to become one of the biggest in Hamburg.
Long-term tenant – Olympus
Construction on the building began after the laying of the foundation stone last June and the Olympus group is set to lease most of the building. The technology company has done business in Hamburg since 1963 and has clearly committed itself to Hamburg-Hammerbrook with the long-term lease. The company manages its European Economic Area, as well as Middle East and Africa business divisions from the south of Hamburg.
“Olympus is an innovative healthcare company in Hamburg and a valuable research and development partner. As an active member of the Cluster Life Sciences North, the company is a strategic cooperation partner for the city,” said Tschentscher. The campus offers cutting edge facilities for employees and provides new impetus for Hammerbrook. Hamburg Invest assisted in the search for a suitable location. The co-working space provider Design Offices will also take up a long-term lease. The offices in the Olympus Campus mark its third branch in Hamburg.
Designed by the Hamburg-based architects gmp von Gerkan, Marg und Partner, the Olympus Campus on the 8,642 m² site has three basements and 24,000 m² of usable floor space. The three-storey underground car park has space for 515 cars. The plans also foresee 50 parking spaces for electric vehicles as well as bicycle parking facilities creating around 50,000 m² of rental space*. Campus Properties 1 GmbH & Co. KG, whose shareholders are Olympus and the Zech Group, is responsible for the realisation of Campus and construction. The project team also consists of Olympus employees and developers with the Zech Group.
